Mirela Cogean is the Secretary-Receptionist in our office in Bucharest.

Mirela is a graduate of the University “Stefan cel Mare” Suceava, Faculty of Public Administration and provides administrative support activities to our team of lawyers and to clients.

Having been with us for almost ten years, she has extensive experience of assisting clients with the complexities of doing business in Romania.

Lyuba Bozova is a Bulgarian qualified legal advisor in our Sofia office.

Her experience is focused in the area of intellectual property, technologies, corporate and commercial matters. Lyuba advises on all aspects of establishment, operation and dissolution of companies. She is experienced in conclusion and implementation of complex commercial agreements, joint-ventures, and share-purchase agreements. Lyuba deals with issues both under Bulgarian regulations and EU and International law concerning privacy, data protection, competition and consumer protection for a leading international producer and distributor of home care, cosmetic and food products.

Lyuba also has extensive experience in real estate and construction in the context of sale and acquisition of renewable energy projects. She is particularly experienced in FIDIC contracts related to construction projects, including EPC contracts.

She graduated from University Jean Moulin – Lyon III, France, faculty of law (LL.M, 2008) and has a master degree in European law from Sofia University and University Robert Schumаn Strasburg III.

Luisa Mendez – Guzman is a Romanian-qualified lawyer holding the position of Managing Associate in our Bucharest office. She is a Member of the Bucharest Bar and also of the Romanian National Chamber of Industrial Property. She is a certified Procurement Expert.

Luisa has a strong commercial practice, with particular expertise in relation to intellectual property matters. She advises on the whole set of the intellectual property issues including trademark rights, design rights, copyright and related rights matters, trade names, domain names, enforcement and border measures, patents, licenses and franchises and unfair competition in various industries. She has significant experience working with clients in sectors including pharmaceutical industry, automobile, constructions, media and entertainment, Information technology, beverages and consumer goods, fashion and HORECA.

Luisa has gain experience in advising on data protection and privacy-related matters through her work with clients from various industries, including advising on compliance with the GDPR, regulatory compliance, data subject rights, processing, data transfer formalities and drafting privacy policies and data protection notifications.

She has a solid experience and has acquired an extensive practice in assisting foreign and Romanian non-profit organizations, and understanding the clients matters depending on the field in which it operates, and continuing to solve complicated issues related to the establishment and operation of an NGO.

Luisa has also advised international companies in relation to commercial matters in various sectors (including oil & gas companies, global banking and financial services company, pharmaceutical producers, transport and logistic companies) and assisted client in cross-border enforcement procedures.

She is a highly experienced lawyer and her practice includes also expertise in Information technology, Telecommunications and media, employment, consumer protection, e-commerce advertising and branding. She also provides extensive advice to clients in the field of healthcare and pharmaceutical legislation.

Luisa is fluent in Romanian, Spanish, German and English.

Laura joined the Firm in early 2000 and travelled the road from receptionist to assistant office manager. She proved to be an exceptional communicator, who will effectively convey information verbally and in writing, prioritizes important tasks, has innovative solutions to solving problems. She is computer-literate and proficient in a variety of computer applications. She has also demonstrated her talent to provide comprehensive and confidential administrative support.

Laura is responsible for monitoring and recording expenditures and generating reports for clients. She also supports our office manager and the partners in the running of the Firm, including dealing with payments and other relationships with the bank and suppliers.

Laura is a graduate of the University of Bucharest – Romanian Language and Literature, she is fluent in Romanian and English and is a qualified authorised translator with a thorough understanding of legal terminology and procedures.

Julian Spassov is the Partner in charge of the Sofia office and has overall responsibility for matters governed by Bulgarian law. He is an experienced Bulgarian lawyer with more than 23 years experience as a practising advocate with the Sofia Bar and he is a registered foreign lawyer with the Bucharest Bar. Julian deals with both contentious and non-contentious work. He has full rights of audience before all Bulgarian courts, tribunals and authorities, and has experience of competition inquiries, in addition to commercial disputes. He also deals with shipping and maritime disputes. Julian has considerable experience of acting as Bulgarian correspondent for a number of international law firms, and his other clients include investment funds, banks, multinationals and other investors in Bulgaria. He also acts for institutional investors and private individuals investing in Bulgarian real estate and renewable energy projects. Julian also has plentiful experience of mergers and acquisitions work, and he advises on business structures and taxation issues, including advising multinationals on the restructuring of their operations in Bulgaria and handling the incorporation of Bulgarian subsidiary companies. He also deals with other regulatory matters and media law, taking a particular interest in telecommunications, IT and intellectual property matters.

Simona is an experienced Romanian-qualified lawyer holding the position of Managing Associate in our Bucharest office.

Simona has advised international companies in relation to all stages of M&A transactions cutting across multiple industry sectors (including renewable energy, courier services, FMCG and transportation and logistics services). In addition to her M&A work, Simona has advised clients in relation to employment issues, corporate (governance) and commercial matters, financing transactions, as well as in relation to competition matters, particularly in respect of EU and national competition rules on vertical agreements, non-compete undertakings and merger clearance.

A member of the Bucharest Bar, Simona is a graduate of the University of Bucharest Law School and holds a Master’s Degree in Labour Law, Employment and Industrial Relations from the same institution.

Simona is fluent in Romanian and English.
